PROJECT NOTES
Construction decisions
Document before intervening
Measurements, timber joints, floors, roof, stone base, moisture and earlier alterations are recorded before restoration decisions are made. Title, planning and permit requirements are checked separately.
Selective dismantling
Opening the facade or roof is controlled work rather than wholesale demolition. Reusable timber is sorted and stored, while temporary supports follow structural assessment.
Repairing the timber frame
Surface colour alone does not decide replacement. Section loss, decay, insects, moisture and connections are assessed; sound members are retained and damaged areas repaired or replaced appropriately.
Stone base, water and roof
Stone-base repair, foundation drainage, surface water, roof layers, eaves, gutters and downpipes work as one moisture-management strategy.
Maçka and surrounding districts
Old timber and stone-timber houses can be assessed in Maçka and other Trabzon districts, with nearby Black Sea locations reviewed according to access and scope.
